Privacy Policy
Last updated April 21, 2026
This policy describes how Let Us Cook ("we", "us") handles information you provide when using the app and related services.
Information we collect
Account details — phone, email, or OAuth identifier (Google / TikTok), nickname, avatar, and language preference.
Cooking preferences — allergies, dietary restrictions, disliked ingredients, kitchen equipment, and cooking-level progress.
Content you create — cooking logs, photos of dishes you've made, community posts, and plans. Fridge-scan photos are sent to our vision service for ingredient recognition and are not retained after processing.
Basic usage logs — request timestamps, device type, and error diagnostics, used for operating the service. We do not use third-party ad trackers.
How we use the data
To run the core product — generating recipes, matching ingredients, scheduling reminders, and personalising suggestions to your stated preferences.
To operate community features such as posts, likes, and shared cooking records when you choose to share them.
To secure the service — rate limiting, fraud detection, and responding to abuse reports.
Third parties we rely on
Doubao Vision (Volcengine) — processes uploaded fridge photos for ingredient recognition. Doubao LLM — generates recipe text and images from aggregated public recipe data.
Cloudflare R2 + CDN — stores and delivers dish images and your uploaded photos.
Google and TikTok OAuth — used only when you choose those login methods. We store the provider's stable user id; we do not receive passwords.
AI-generated content
A large share of the content in this app is produced with the help of generative AI, and we want to be upfront about it:
— Recipes (ingredients, steps, timings, portion sizes) are adapted and restructured by AI from publicly available short-form video content. We do not claim authorship of the underlying recipes; if a creator wishes to be attributed or have their content removed, see the contact procedure in our Terms of Service.
— Dish thumbnails, ingredient icons, condiment stories, curriculum illustrations, feast invitation backgrounds, and short teaching clips are generated by AI image / video models (including Doubao Seedream and Seedance).
— We are rolling out a multi-layer safety check for critical cooking fields (temperatures, cook / rest times, allergen tags, warnings for vulnerable groups), combining deterministic rules, AI review, and operator spot-checks. Until this is fully in place, treat AI-generated cooking content as a starting point, not as verified fact.
See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
Your rights
You can export everything we hold about your account at any time via Settings → Export your data. The download is a JSON file containing your profile, preferences, plans, inventory, cooking logs, posts, and other user-owned data.
You can permanently delete your account and associated data via Settings → Delete account. Deletion is irreversible; unique identifiers (email / phone) become reusable for re-registration.
Questions or formal data requests: privacy@letuscook.kitchen.
Local storage on your device
The app stores your access token, language preference, guest onboarding selections, and today's suggested menu in your browser's localStorage. Clearing your browser storage signs you out and removes these selections.
Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted accounts are purged immediately; backup copies may persist for up to 30 days before rolling off.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app; the "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
